Finally Finished

Today I dropped in two new paintings with Ger Nevin at Reilly’s Antiques & Art Gallery, Prosperous, Co. Kildare. The large painting”Trees and Wind” (40x120cm) inspired by “Rebuffed The Big Wind” a line from a poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins was actually exhibited unfinished 5 years ago at the venice of Ireland Festival in Monasterevin. I fell it is finally finished now. It’s oil on Board with rich gold colours contrasting with dark greens, floating in a pale blue sky.

The other painting”Nocturne” is smaller and of a darker palette, reminiscent of another older “Nocturne” painting.
Although dark, it has a vibrancy and an energy that takes you into watery earth.
